donuta non grata. no, grata!

Was surfing one day, of many days, and came upon this heart-warming hallmark type newsbyte. A mother buys her five year old daughter a doughnut shop. The kid's special because "...doctors weren't sure whether Alyssia Hudson-Grayer, who was born six weeks prematurely with a number of serious health problems, would live to age 5."

awwww.

A good story to take your mind off the sickening current events and a whole lot other stuff you can read here. and here. You know what, why don't you just go visit hann's blog more often. Lots of very good updates. Especially about the things that go on in our wonderful democratic and peaceful motherland. fatherland (haha. i can hear old Germans going, "zat's a good name!"). waterearth. whatever. Get your vomit bag ready.

-----
Hann's log also has updates on food. Thanks to its resident culinary expert, maz.

Here's me taking a leaf out of their book. page out of their tree? no?

Donuts. Doughnuts.
I like Bavarian Creme. 'Cause they have cream inside. And they don't even call it cream but creme. Well, I call it creme. (pronouned KrEm). How very chichi of me.
Creme.
Creme.
Creme.
I just like saying it.
(NB : the first 'e' is supposed to have a grave accent. yeah the downward squiggly. but i haven't figured out how to make it show on the blog.)

Oh, and 'cause they're Bavarian.

I looked up a map the other day and couldn't find Bavarius anywhere. Come to think of it, I couldn't find Malaysia anywhere either. All that's there is one big island on the back of a giant tortoise.

Even if Bavarius did exist, Hitler (the baddest old German of them all) would've probably wiped it out off the face of the earth a while back. The bastard.

And all we have left as testament of their glorious culture are spongy cream-filled donuts. Sounds like a fair enough trade-off. =)
