The artist formerly known as Prince.
I've seen it. I've seen it. New college letterheads. New college prospectus folders. "KYUEM", big and bold, staring at me right in the face.
We are the college formerly known as KMYS. It's almost official. Just need to wait till the fat lady sings. At assembly tomorrow. (announcing the name change, that is).
Where under heaven did they come up with that name anyway? Was there a voting booth we didn't know about ? That should be the case. I mean everything seems to need some sort of voting now and again. What happened to that sacred thing called democracy they're trying to expose to us so much ?
In related news,
MUSCOM (the governing religious organization) just had its elections yesterday. Results pending announcement during assembly too. probably.
Also something to look forward to during assembly is the official handover of the
student council. It has been heard that the outgoing council members will release some of the election statistics. And probably squash all/any rumours that have surrounded the not-really-controversial elections.
Finally, NOSTALGIC MALAYSIA, the incoming student council's
first big project is this sunday.
8.15 pm. Great Hall. 15th February 2004.
What's Nostalgic Malaysia you ask? Well, it is
the event formerly known as Colourful Malaysia. You know, one of those "let's promote some unity between the different races" kind of events. Then someone spoke up that the last thing that would promote unity is highlighting people's differences (the person
did have a point. kinda.) Besides, we
kids are seldom nostalgic (maybe because we're still too young?) and already too colourful anyway (a joke made by some teacher about the many coloured heads seen around college. it was rather funny. for a split second.). By the bye, we are being nostalgic about the late
Tan Sri P. Ramlee. There's an interhouse P. Ramlee movie immitation contest. A whole playlist of his best songs. And not to forget, some dinner. Delicious dinner.
What's that ? How's it getting along ? oh, fine. just fine. in fact I could almost say perfect. But for the fact that the whole function may not turn out 100% successful. I did say
probably though. Things are happening beyond the control of our mortal powers. But to quote another teacher (this time statistically a more humorous bloke) "Prepare for the worst and hope for the best".
So, run along now. Go on. Start hoping.
