ICAN, ISAT, I conquered.

A little overdue, but still relevant. Last week saw the hosting of ICAN (Islamic Cultural Arts Night. Which wasn't held in a night but a week. Talk about a misnomer.) There was this talk by Ustaz Zawawi about love. Lovely. Then there was the ladies night, called Lailatul Nisa. The climax of ICAN was the Grand Night which included a sketch and a nasyid performance by the (reasonably) famous Al-Massar.

That Friday morning, 130 lucky students sat for ISAT. Some Australian entrance exam for overseas students. They wanted to gauge the quality of A level students and how they would fare if they went to Australia. Oh, for the sake of research.

With the rising UK exchange rate to our feeble ringgit, some of our students may indeed find the free ISAT (normally costs around RM 400) pretty useful. That is, they may find themselves suddenly being transferred to an Australian University. Horrors!

Oh, then there's that extra weekender. Awal Muharram. That wonderful holiday on a Monday. Oh, life is always such a bliss when you get a two-day weekend.

And they say we don't know how to appreciate things. Tsk.

You get to finish up that homemework that the teacher gave you weeks ago, which you could've done had you not been bombarded with useless "Big Projects". You get to wash the clothes that you can't send to the laundry, despite the fact that the college makes it compulsary for you to pay laundry fees. You could also study for your A levels, that is, if you weren't too busy reading up about MUET or some other pointless exam they want to experiment on us.

Okay, so maybe we don't know how to appreciate these things. So sue us. :P

Having said that, it takes quite a student to plough through all this rubbish and still come out sparkling clean at the end of the day. Then, and only then you'll know that you've made it. You've conquered KYUEM. Give yourself a pat on the back.
